WOE NOMINATION FORM

Nominate a lady of excellence to receive the Eva Morrison and Marie

Annite Massenat Women of Excellence Award at the 2027 NLR.

Description: Since 2018, the Niagara Ladies Retreat Ministry Planning Committee has presented the Eva Morrison and Marie Annite Massenat Women of Excellence Awards to recognize women in Eastern Canada whose service positively influences the lives of others. These awards honour women who demonstrate grace, faithfulness and excellence in a job well done.

HOW TO PREPARE A STRONG NOMINATION

Please answer every criterion separately. Use specific facts rather than general praise: identify what the nominee did, her personal role, dates or duration, who benefited, and what changed as a result. A role title or statement such as “she is caring” is not enough on its own—include one or two concrete examples that show it.

For each criterion, include as many of these details as apply:

  • What she personally did—not only the work of the organization or group.

  • When and for how long she served or led (for example, 2022–present or weekly for three years).

  • Where the work occurred and who or how many people benefited.

  • The need addressed, actions taken, challenges overcome, and observable results or impact.

  • A specific example, testimonial, result, or attachment that supports the information.

Word limits and privacy

Use no more than 200 words for each of the four criteria and 150 words for the final recommendation. Do not include confidential health, financial, family, or other sensitive details. If a personal situation illustrates compassion, describe it respectfully and only as much as is necessary to explain the nominee’s actions and impact.

NOMINATION CRITERIA

Respond to each question separately. Please keep each response to 200 words or fewer.

1. Active Service to Church and Community

Describe the nominee’s sustained service in her church and/or community. Identify the ministry, organization, or activity; her specific role and responsibilities; how often or how long she has served; the people or communities served; and one or two results. Explain her contribution—not only the work of the group.

2. Vision, Initiative and Pioneering Spirit

Describe one initiative the nominee started, improved, expanded, or championed. What need or opportunity did she identify? What was her idea and personal leadership role? Explain the actions she took, people or resources she mobilized, obstacles she addressed, timeframe, and evidence of results. State why this work was innovative or pioneering in its setting.

3. Leadership and Role Modelling

Describe how the nominee leads and influences others. Include formal or informal leadership roles; people, teams, or groups she guides or mentors; one specific leadership situation; the decisions or actions she took; values and behaviours she models; and the resulting effect on others or the work. Focus on observable examples rather than general character descriptions.

4. Acts of Kindness and Compassion

Share one or two specific examples of compassionate action that go beyond routine responsibilities. Describe the situation or need (without confidential details), when and where it occurred, what the nominee personally did, how she responded to those affected, and the immediate or lasting impact. Please use respectful language and protect the privacy of individuals involved.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION AND SUPPORTING INFORMATION
5. Why This Nominee Should Receive This Award

In no more than 150 words, make the strongest overall case for recognition. Identify the contribution, achievement, or impact that most distinguishes this nominee; explain how it reflects the award values of grace, faithfulness, service, leadership, and excellence; and state why she deserves recognition now. Avoid repeating general praise without evidence.

Supporting evidence or verification (optional but strongly encouraged)

List or attach materials that could help the committee verify the examples above, such as a reference letter, program information, testimonial, publication, event record, or contact person. Do not include sensitive personal information. Email all attachment to admin@niagaraladiesretreat.com
